I realized that it began, the passion for paint, when my sweet mother let me paint my room at 15 years old. I was dreaming up the concept, imagining the outcome, making the infamous trip to the paint store to pick up the interestingly named paint samples, and trusting my own creative instinct. I picked out a deep moss green (deep congo) for the walls, painted stripes on the floor and even had free reign to paint a mural in my window seat area. That room was a reflection of me then and it gave me joy when I was in it. That is what I love to offer to all of my painting is for it to bring joy to the eye and to the soul. Walking into a setting, and just feelin' good!
I would grow up watching my father paint. He pinstripes designs on vehicles. So detailed is his workings and so still is his hand. Thank you Dad for my steady hand. I watched the interest bud and grow in my mother of interior design, and saw the cleverness she had for creation. Thank you for my creative “eye” Momma.
After graduating high school, I headed off to the University to major in Fine Art. After two years, completing most of my Art credits, I dropped out and yet dropped into pursuing my life and making my living as an Artist. Like I wanted to take multiple Math, Language and Science generals to prove to myself and others i attain a degree in Art? Didn’t sound interesting one bit to me. So after packing up my single truck load of dorm décor and art supplies, my momma and I created a creative alliance force to bring color and cutting edge to our lil’ small towns of the Basin.
